Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord strong and mighty,
the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty--
He is the King of glory.
Psalm 24:7-10.
The KING of glory. It is Him that i find myself so thankful for this morning. I'm a little late in writing a "Thanksgiving" blog entry, but better late than never when it comes to gratitude. Right? :)
As we enter into the Christmas season each year, i tend to get a little self-reflective. I think about where i was this time last year. Who i was. What life was like. And today i am thankful. For a lot. For the lessons learned this past year. For the blessings of wisdom and discernment that He has rained down on me and continues to rain down on me daily. For the growth. Spiritually. Emotionally. You name it--there's been growth. I'm thankful that i'm not who i was when i took my first steps on this path called being a believer. And i certainly do not have it all together. (But what's the fun in really "having it all together"??) :) I'm thankful for my family. For the honor of being Aunt Tutu to two sweet little ones this year. For new relationships. For the friendships that have grown deeper over the last year.
But back to God. More than anything this year, i'm thankful for his grace. I'm unbelievably thankful that He pours out His love and mercy on me in an unconditional, all consuming manner. I'm thankful that He calls me his daughter--his princess. Realizing my identity as a daughter of the King is what i'm most thankful for. In Him, i am enough. Just as i am--flaws and all. :)
